Cy Sabathia?

Lately, a bad day for CC Sabathia is better than a good day for AJ Burnett. I love the way he's able to battle back from a rocky start and still go deep into games.

At 17-7 with a 3.42 ERA and 178 k's, Sabathia is certainly a contender for the Cy Young award, but it has to go to Zack Greinke with 13-8, 2.19 ad 216, doesn't it? Greinke's stats are significantly better in every major catagory except for win/loss (the most over-rated stat in sports, in my opinion). Can you punish Greinke for pitching for a bad team?

I would love for Brian Bruney to get it together and again become the pitcher he was earlier this year, but I'm sick of watching him try. It's just sad that he couldn't close out the game with a 10 run lead.

Meanwhile, Brett Favre can still handoff with the best of 'em!

I caught the end of the Cincy-Denver game, that catch by Stokley might already be the play of the NFL season. It will be hard to top at any rate. I can't believe the way the defense just fell asleep once the ball was tipped.

Thank God it's Sunday

I don't know about you, but I've been looking foward to this NFL season for a very long time.

Of course, it will be interesting to watch Brett Favre's regular season debut as a Viking (I figure he's bound to succeed against the Browns), but I'm more excited for tonight, when the Packers take on the Bears.

The Packers look to rebound from a disapponting season plagued by injuries, against a Chicago team that "doesn't have any true recievers" according to Donald Driver. I have to agree with him on that point, but I'm not sure why he came out and said it. I think if this Green Bay team stays moderately healthy (especially at quarterback) this could be a very special season. I'm looking forward to seeing the 3-4 in action.

In other news, CC Sabathia takes the mound against the Orioles of Baltimore. This game is only realy important in maintaining a large lead for home-field advantage against the Angels, but it would be nice not to get swept at home with our ace on the mound by team that hasn't played meaningful baseball in years.

Hello!

I don't know if anyone is reading this, but I suppose I should tell a little bit about myself to kick this thing off. My name is Jesse Wagner. I’m an eighteen year old freshman Journalism student at North Dakota State University, and I love sports. I’ve loved sports my entire life, but haven’t played organized sports in a long time. I inherited my love of sports and my taste in sports teams from my father. Although we don’t see eye-to-eye on everything in the wide world of sports, we can agree on the obvious things, such as the fact that the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Vikings suck.

My favorite sports are baseball, football, and basketball. My favorite teams are the New York Yankees, the Green Bay Packers, the New York Knicks, the Duke Blue Devils, the Florida State Seminoles, and, of course, all NDSU teams.

My current occupation, other than full-time college student, is filming practices for the NDSU football team.

I have a dream of becoming a sportswriter, but I don’t have much experience, so that’s the point of this project. Hopefully this will become a more productive way of procrastinating than watching TV and playing the guitar. I guess I will mostly comment on what’s happening with the teams I mentioned earlier, but won’t limit myself to that. And the focus could narrow with time too, who knows? I had originally planned to put up another post right away that would be more sports-related, but it’s nearly 3:00am, and I’m not feeling nearly as ambitious now as I was when I started this post. I need to get some sleep.
I’m ready for some football!
